Lacey State Park

  • Lacey State Park Lake Trail [MAP] - 2 miles, Easy- This trail goes around Lake Lacey; it has a nice view of the lake. It has a few bridges and steps. It also has benches so you can stop and rest. There are a few hills, but they are all small easy climbing hills. You can start from the boat ramp, the beach house, or the tent camping entrance. Map is located at bottom of page.
  • Lacey State Park River Trail [MAP] - 2.75 miles, Medium- This trail follows the Des Moines River. It has numerous hills and bridges to cross. It has a nice view of the river and shorter trails join it. This trail does not circle back to itself. You can start from the main lodge, Eli Ford or the Keosauqua bridge. Map is located at bottom of page.
  •  Bonaparte Lindsey Wilderness Trail [MAP] - 1 mile, Medium- This trail starts on the east side of Bonaparte and runs north out of J40.  This trail has some hills and bridges.  It does not circle back to itself. You can start in Bonaparte, or at the entrance on J40. Map is at bottom of page.
  • Cantril Waubonsie Park [MAP] - 1 mile, Easy.  This trail is rocked and circles the stocked pound, takes you through a wooded and prairie area.  You will find this to be a truly unique and picturesque walk.
  • Farmington Indian Lake [MAP] - 2 Miles, Easy.  This trail is a multi-purpose trail that follows the shoreline of the lake.  There are a few hills and a bridge to cross. Map is at bottom of page.
  • Keosauqua Loop Trail [MAP] - 2 miles, Easy.  This trail begins at the Fair Grounds and loops back around following hwy 1.  This is a very nice trail with some rock and paved surfaces, easy to push a stroller on. You can also start by the water town going out of Keosauqua towards Pittsburg.

  • Milton Trail  [MAP]- 1/2 Mile, Easy.  This trail is located right off hwy 2 in Milton.  You will find this trail an easy walking trail with a number of short paths you can take.

  • Campgrounds (1) - 0.13 miles Easy- This trail connects with the Lacey Lake Trail.
  • Campgrounds (2) - 0.23 miles, Easy- This trail meets up with the Lacey Lake Trail. It goes down a hill so your return trip will be a little more difficult.
  • First Shelter (1) - 0.03 miles, Easy- This trail meets up with the River trail.
  • First Shelter (2) - 0.03 miles, Easy- This trail also meets up with the river trail.
  • Sugema Trail - 2 mile, Easy- This trail runs from the campgrounds at the south side of Lake Sugema to Lake Lacey. This is a long trail that does not circle back to itself. The trail has some hills and parts of it are in the direct sunlight.
  • Lake Trail Creek (1) - 0.24 miles, Easy- This trail connects with the Lacey Lake Trail. The trail follows the creek with a nice view.
  • Lake Trail Creek (2) - 0.26 miles, Easy- This trail also connects with the Lacey Lake Trail. It has a smaller hill and also follows the creek.
  • Trail by the Rock - 0.17 miles, Easy- This trail is between the lodge and shelter two. It leads to the second shelter. It is a very easy walk with no hills. It does not circle back to itself.
  • Gate House Trail (1) - 0.6 miles, Hard- This trail starts at the road and will lead you close to the gate house. There are hills on this trail and a bridge. This trail has a nice view of wildlife.
  • Gate House Trail (2) - 0.13 miles, Easy- This trail starts at the road and will lead you right back to the road. It has no hills and is in the shade.
  • Gate House Trail (3) - 0.6 miles, Medium- This trail starts at the road and ends up back at the road. The trail has a few big hills and narrow paths.
  • Morris Park - This trail is located in Morris Park northeast of Stockport.  It has two trails, one short 0.2 mile trail that is in a U shape around the campground. The other is a 0.5 mile hard trail.  This trail has some very large hills and is not recommended for beginners.
  • Shimek State Forest- Has a number of hiking trails as well as equestrian camping.
